Playtest feedback and implementations

Playtesting was very important in the final stages of this project. Of course, I was going to have a feel for how the game works since I've been with it for at least a couple weeks, but how would someone new to the game react?

The first thing I found out was that my game description was faulty! When you can only move left and right in a game there's something wrong with telling people that all 4 WASD keys are their controls. It seems obvious when you read this, but it wasn't at the time. I also added a little thing about what you're supposed to be doing in the game.

Another thing I found was that occasionally people were falling through platforms they felt like they shouldn't. Along with making the platform collision boxes a little more forgiving in general, I also found this was tied to a bug where the player wouldn't register a collision if they're already colliding with something. I did fix this bug, but unfortunately that led to a much more gamebreaking bug in the HTML5 build, and so attached is the Windows build with a slightly better experience.

Other things I found while playtesting were tied to the music. First, it sounded loud and grating at parts (at least to my ears!) so I went and touched that up. Also, when there are heavy framerate drops (which there are sometimes, especially playing the web build with two players) the music ends up desynced with the game itself - in theory they're both one minute long. Unfortunately I don't know how to fix that problem without spending a good long while on optimizing, so there's another reason for the Windows build.
